Thanet Festival of Song 2018. Our school choir always look forward to this annual event, where schools from Thanet put on a top quality concert, at the local Winter Gardens. This year the theme was "Thanet goes Pop!"
This term we have been learning about rhythm . Year one have created different rhythms and with the help of a conductor these rhythms were put together to form their own composition.
Year 6 have enjoyed learning to play the keyboard and are beginning to master the art of reading treble and base clef notation, on a musical stave.

This term we are supporting the deaf health charity, SignHealth. On Friday the 9th of February will be joining Sign2Sing 2018 (http://sign2sing.org.uk). People across the country will be participating to raise money for the charity by performing this song. On this day there will be non-uniform for the pupils and they will being in a pound which will go to this wonderful charity. Watch the video that we have prepared and please donate generously.
This term we are focusing on rhythm. Our year 3 are building up different rhythms on percussion instruments.
Our Key Stage 2 pupils worked hard, to produce our Christmas Service. Readings were interspersed with numerous musical items and solos. Well done, it was beautiful!
Our Year 3 are learning about "Tempo" and they took it in turns to drum out a strict tempo, whilst the rest of the class were singing.
Our Year 6 guitars, with the support of Mrs Todd and Mr Gillies, accompanied the school during our Harvest assembly.
Year 6 are learning the keyboard. they are not only using their knowledge of understanding a treble clef score, but they are also learning to read music in the bass clef. They are doing well!
Last year the pupils in year 3 learnt to play the Ocarina, now they have progressed to the recorder. All the skills they developed last year, have really helped them and they have already been able to play simple pieces, using the notes B, A and G. Well done year 3!
With the support of Mrs Todd, Year 4 have spent 2 weeks doing guitar lessons and they have made amazing progress!
Our new year 2 classes have started learning the Ocarinas and they are doing so well!
