The feeding of the five thousand.
In science we explored our senses using a range of practical activities. We explored sound by listening to different sounds through headphones and placing a counter on the sound we thought was made.
We were allowed to smell different things including Marmite and vinegar. We tasted a range of different foods including mustard! (Yuck)
We enjoyed using all our senses and carrying out a range of activities!
In maths we have been looking at odd and even numbers. We read a story and met Mrs. Odd and Mr even. We learnt that Mrs. Odd is very selfish! We had a go at ordering odd and even numbers in the correct categories.
We have been looking at Judaism in R.E and learning about why Jewish people give thanks and celebrate at Sukkot. We have built our own Sukkot using a range of different materials.
We celebrated different languages for the day and Year 1 focussed on Poland. We had some helpers who were parents of children in Year One who cooked us some delicious polish treats! We really enjoyed tasting the different foods and exploring similarities and differences in a polish school!
As part of our topic this term, we visited Port Lympne Zoo to observe the different animals and their habitats. We went on a safari truck and got up very close to a number of different animals including the giraffes. This was a great experience for the children and the children showed such positive behaviour whilst on our trip. The children also enjoyed the dinosaur park and the adventure land.
We discussed why we have two minutes silence and what Remembrance day is. We looked at a little story about a poppy and spoke about why we wear a poppy on remembrance day. The children then had fun making their own poppy biscuits. They were delicious!
In Topic we have been looking at the different seasons and focussing on Autumn. We took a visit to Dane Park to collect conkers and leaves and to explore the changes that take place in Autumn. We also were allowed time to have a go on the different equipment in the park. When we arrived back at school we made a collage of different Autumn materials we collected on our classroom windows.
We made our own clocks
We made our own Lonely Beasts playground from strips of paper.
Thursday 2nd March world book day
We had fun dressing up as our favourite book characters.
We used wooden characters to re-tell familiar stories. We also used construction to build story settings.
We read the story "Where the Wild Thing Are" and used water colours to create our own "Wild Thing".
