500 House point activity day in Woodland School

Some children chose to make these salt dough mini beasts in Woodland School during the 500 house point treat day. We used leaves, petals and sticks for the legs, wings and eyes. Well done everyone!

DD tarp shelter:

Here are some children from Year 1 learning how to use the mallet and tent pegs. Then we used our skills to make a simple diamond shelter with a DD tarp. Well done everyone!

We have some new Hungarian Army tents!

Some children from KS2 had their first try first try at putting up one of the new Hungarian Army tents. We had to adjust it a little and the buttons were tight to do up BUT we didn't give up and in the end we were successful! Well done all!

NATURE NEWS!

Jays belong to the crow family. This family of birds are called CORVIDS.

A wren is a tiny bird with a stick-up tail!

The nest is protected from predators and also from the weather here in the corner!

In the heavy rain this afternoon, we stayed in the den in Woodland School and got creative with the pine cones and teddies.

Pine cones can be used for all sorts of creative play!

Teddy bear parkour in Woodland School!

Here are a selection of our teddy obstacle courses! Each obstacle course had to include something for the teddies to go over, go under, go up, go down and go through. There were some excellent creative ideas including drop-slides, a maze, bridges, tunnels and diving boards! Well done everyone!

TOOL TIME IN WOODLAND SCHOOL

We learnt how to use the loppers, secateurs and peelers today, and we wore safety gloves to protect our fingers from the peeler! Some children wanted to use the sticks to make magic wands. We used wool and yarn to create stripes on the wands. Some children chose to make stick man and Jackson chose to make a stick dog! Well done everyone!

GARDENING NEWS:

The vegetables are growing really well in the school garden, the broad beans and lettuces are almost ready to pick! The new potatoes should be ready to dig up at the end of the month.

Collaborative castle-building in Woodland School!

A magnificent castle for the woodland teddies! This was begun in the morning with children from year 1. In the afternoon year 4 added the roof made from lime and sycamore leaves and then finally year 5 added a path and two watch towers, plus furniture inside the castle. A fantastic collaboration and so many creative ideas! Well done all!

KNOT TIEING

We have been learning how to tie knots. We learnt how to tie a reef knot and then we tried the figure of 8 knot. We used two colours of paracord to make it easier.

PAPER PLATE CATERPILLARS

We like getting crafty in woodland school. Today some children from year 1 and 2 made these caterpillars, using natural materials for the stripes, the legs and the head. Some children used the centre of a daisy for the eyes!

Term 6 Week 4 whole class sessions in Woodland School!

We have been singing The Soda Song and the Pizza Man song at the log circle, and we’ve been doing the Hokey Cokey too! We have played Pass the Clap at the log circle and also we have done a Mexican Wave! Woohoo!

We’ve been busy in the mud kitchen, made magic wands, watered the garden, made a giant log house and teepee, made decorated snails and completed a Go Find It treasure hunt…WOW… what a busy week!

Children from Year 5 and Year 6 have taken part in a “Go Find It” challenge in Woodland School this week. There were ten challenge cards to find and undertake!
