Year 5&6 Football Match Report 13/9/19

The football team kicked off the season with a festival held at Garlinge Primary School on Friday afternoon.  There were plenty of positives to takeaway including Daniel’s clinical finishing, Barbara showing how skilful she is on the ball and Rhys and Daniel A both volunteering to be goalkeeper.  Well done to everyone involved, plenty to work on at club in the following weeks and keep up the good work.

Year 5&6 St Saviours Football Festival 20/9/19

There were lots of debuts made on Friday and promising displays all over the pitch.  The festival began with a 0-2 loss to a very strong St Saviours ‘A’ team but the team didn’t put their heads down and showed resilience to bounce back and beat Birchington 1-0 with a good finish from Jayden.  After some more good play in the final match v St Saviours ‘B’ team the game ended 0-0 despite going close to score.  A special mention must go to Igor for being a great goalkeeper on his first ever game for the school!

YEAR 5&6 DW CUP SATURDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER

Well done to our girl’s football team who took part in the DW cup held at Upton Junior School on Saturday.  This was the first competitive match for many of the girls and they played some superb football, winning games against Newlands (1-0) and Northdown (4-0).  The girls showed great teamwork to come together as a team for the first time and represented the school with pride!

5th October Thanet Primary Schools Cross Country, Quex Park

On Saturday 5TH October, our cross country runners took part in the Thanet Primary Schools event, held Quex Park in Birchington.  This is one of the biggest primary school sports events of the year with runners from all the schools competing.  All of our runners showed tremendous fitness and stamina as well as resilience to complete their respective races.  A special mention must go to Paris for finishing 8th in the year 5 girl’s race!  Well done to everyone!  If you would like your child to do the next cross country held in March, then please complete the letter which will be distributed nearer the time and hand it back to school with the £3 entry fee.

Year 2 Football Tournament at Margate FC 

Well done to the year 2 football team who took part in an inter school competition held at Margate FC on Tuesday 15th October.  The team played matches against Cliftonville, Birchington, Callis Grange and St Crispin’s and showed great effort and determination in all the games.  A special mention goes to Lukas for winning the star player award for his outstanding goal against Birchington.

Key Stage 1 P.E (Year 1&2)

During term 1, pupils have been having fun learning various skills in football lessons.  Our lessons have included ball control, passing and receiving skills and striking the ball.  The pupils have done lots of individual and team competitions to help their understanding of winning and losing.  Well done everyone!

Key Stage 2 (Year 3,4,5)

This term KS2 pupils have been doing basketball within our P.E lessons.  The pupils have been developing their throwing and catching skills though the range of basketball passes.  They have also been learning about attack and defence strategies within mini games.

Term 2

Year 6 Parkour Academy

Some of our year 6’s have been learning all about Parkour, led by the Thanet Parkour Academy.  The sessions have been held in the gym and involve overcoming obstacles by vaulting, balancing and other gymnastic movements.  Check out the action shots below!  Very impressive!

KS1 (Year 1 & 2) P.E Tag Rugby

Rugby world cup fever has taken over P.E lessons for year 1 & 2 classes this term!  Within our P.E lesson, the pupils have been learning how to run with the ball with speed as well as evasive strategies.  Pupils have also been learning about the Rugby world cup and the host country Japan.

KS2 (Year 3,4 & 5) P.E Football

This term pupil’s in KS2 have been really enjoying their football lessons.  The term has started with some basic ball control and passing skills and steadily we are progressing towards team games and intra house competitions.

Year 4 Football Festival Tuesday 12th November

On Tuesday, the year 4 football team took part in a festival held at Margate FC.  The team were all very excited for the event and they all showed great enthusiasm throughout.  The first game was a 2-2 draw against Garlinge with both goals scored by Jacob.  After a loss to Cliftonville, the team showed great resilience to bounce back with a 3-0 win versus Palm bay with Leo scoring two goals! Overall it was a really good performance by all and thanks to all the parents who showed up to support us!  A special mention must go to Leo for winning the star player award and also Roman (year 3) for stepping up a year to play!  Well done!

YEAR 6 DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT

On Wednesday 27th November a team of year 6 pupils travelled to King Ethelbert’s school to compete in the Thanet Primary school’s dodgeball tournament.  Dodgeball has been one of the most popular sports at the school in the last couple of years and the year 6’s have been enjoying learning about the rules and tactics of the game at the after school dodgeball club.  The tournament consisted of 3 games each and we were up against Holy Trinity Ramsgate, St Peters and Palm Bay.  The team showed lots of confidence and belief in all the games, demonstrating some excellent throwing and catching skills along the way.  Well done to everyone involved.

Year 5&6 Football Match Thursday 28th November

On Thursday the year 5&6 football team played against Drapers Mill in the quarter finals of the cup.  The side played with lots of belief and confidence and the score was level at half time with Charlie scoring a great goal.  In the second half, the game was end to end and despite Daniel scoring a well taken goal, the final score was 4-2 to Drapers.  All the players should be extremely proud of their efforts.

Term 3

Year 5&6 Handball team runners up!

Well done to the year 5&6 handball team who finished a highly respectable second place at the Thanet Primary Schools Handball tournament on Friday.   The team started with a fantastic 7-0 win against Birchington in the first game, followed by wins versus the St Lawrence A and B team.  This meant that Holy Trinity were neck and neck with St Josephs in the final games and following a 2-2 draw and a 3-3 draw, Holy Trinity remained unbeaten and came in runners up position to St Josephs.  Overall, a fantastic effort from all involved and a big well done!

Margate FC mascot day Saturday 8th February

On Saturday some of our year 4 and 5 pupils were selected to be the mascots for the Margate FC home match versus Corinthian Casuals at Hartsdown Park.  All the pupils had a fantastic afternoon which started with a 5 a side game of football on the mini astro pitch! The pupils were then allowed access to the main pitch to be the guard of honours as the first team players walked out of the tunnel.  After this, pupils were positioned around the pitch as ball boys and ball girls.  The highlight of the day came at half time with the penalty shoot-out.  All in all, it was a great day with lots of memories made!

Term 3 P.E – Gymnastics

This term our pupils have been indoors for P.E lessons and have been doing gymnastics!  Our lessons for KS1 (Year 1 and 2) have focused on different ways of travelling and balancing on equipment.  In KS2  pupils have been working on static shapes, including; pike, tuck and straddle positions and creating a motif by working in pairs in unison.  We have also had time for some and jumping and leaping skills!  Check out the pictures below!
