Welcome to Robin's class page!

Teacher - Miss. Davison

Teaching Assistants - Mr. Lowdon & Mrs. Barker

Welcome to Robin Class, and to Year 3! We hope your child will have an exciting year with us and we look forward to seeing them thrive and grow.

If you have any questions about anything at all, please do not hesitate to come and see us.

Below is an overview of what we will be learning this year. Please feel free to take a look.

In preparation for the year four national times table test, we practice times tables everyday in year three. The children have regular paper tests and practice completing the times table test online too, as this is how it will be administered to them in year four. Below are the links to the online practice tests that we use in school to prepare children. If you are able to access these websites, it would be beneficial to encourage your child to practice regularly and develop their confidence.

This terms topic is 'Tremors' in which we will be learning all about natural disasters, specifically volcanoes! Below is a reel of pictures, showcasing all of the different things we have been doing. The children are already very interested and engaged in the topic!

In Maths this term, the children will be focusing on multiplication and subtraction. The children will look at how to solve problems mentally, but also be introduced to written methods that will help them, such as repeated addition, grouping, using a number line, sharing and partitioning.

Below are some websites that will help your children develop their confidence with multiplication and subtraction.

In English this term we have been looking at poetry and the features of poetry. We have been learning about what the different features are, including personification, onomatopoeia, alliteration, similes, metaphors, repetition and rhyme! They have written their own poems about volcanoes, they are fantastic!

They will also be learning about diary writing. We will look at the features of diaries such as writing in first person and the past tense. They will also have a go at non-fiction writing, in which they will need to write instructions detailing what to do if a volcano was to erupt.

Below are some websites that will help your children develop their understanding and confidence with place value, addition and subtraction.

In English we have been creating our own leaflets, using persuasive writing and writing letters. We have been using adjectives, persuasive and emotive language, informative and factual information, first person text and much more! We have been focusing on the features of these writing genres and then having a go at creating our own!
Our topic this term is 'Predators!' where we have been learning all about predators, prey, animals including humans and plants. We will learning about the different parts of plants and their functions, the human body, different animals and whether they are predators or prey, food chains and food webs.
