  • BISHOP OF DOVER VISITS HOLY TRINITY AND ST JOHN'S C E PRIMARY, MARGATE

    Mon 05 Feb 2024

The Rt Revd. Rose Hudson-Wilkin joined in song for our worship on Wednesday 31st January. The Bishop of Dover took part in the singing and action songs before letting them know about her faith and taking questions from the children. After the whole school worship, she took time to chat with the year five and six young worship leaders to talk about the school values of 'hope, believe, achieve'.

She also visited the school's provisions for children with high levels of social and emotional needs. We have developed Thrive spaces that support pupils with their social and emotional regulation. Thrive offers a trauma-informed, whole school or setting approach to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. https://www.thriveapproach.com

If you would like to know more about the Thrive approach at HTSJ, come along to our next parent forum on Wednesday 6th March at 2.30pm in the school hall.

Bishop Rose visited classrooms and allowed children to ask any further questions they had. She also made time to meet the family support team to learn about the work they do supporting the whole family of the pupils.

It was wonderful to be able to show Bishop Rose around our school and give her a glimpse of everything that goes on here. We serve a diverse community and we aim to be a hub for the families of our pupils not just a place where the children come to learn.

The children and staff were a little bit star struck by Bishop Rose, especially the amazing stories she told about her childhood in Jamaica through to the many, many famous people she has met from Barack Obama to the King. The pupils particularly enjoyed the encouragement that she gave them to explore their faith and then tell her about it in years to come.

We are currently developing a family hub for support, training and a food, hygiene and clothing bank. We are raising funds to build a bespoke cabin for this. If you feel you could support with this, please contact the school office on 01843 223237/ office@htsj.school
