Moon Zoom! The children of Hedgehog class have been working hard creating Missing/Found posters about the crash site we found when we came to school on Tuesday. They worked so hard, including headings, colourful images and some basic information.

We have been using this book for our English lessons for that few days. Hedgehog class have really enjoyed the story. Here is the video from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BuURAo5f3k

Welcome back to school, and in particular to Hedgehog class.

All our little Hedgies have settled in very well, and are getting to know the routines and expectations of year 1. We are loving working with your children, and are excited to share some interesting and creative activities with them as we move through the year.

Some routines and reminders we can share with you...

Our day starts promptly at 835am and finished at 300pm.

Children do not need a bag, only their books to change when they have read them. We would like them to read every day if possible.

P.E. day for Hedgehog class is FRIDAY. The children should come to school dressed in their PE kit, with their school jumper and coat over the top.

The children need a named water bottle every day, we do have water available in class, but their own bottle is preferable.

Here is what we will be covering this year, it is subject to change but gives you an idea of where our learning will take us in year 1.

Some suggested reading for year 1 children, which are soon to become part of a school reading challenge.

Here are the year 1 and 2 curriculum spellings. The children will come across these regularly when reading, and we will be encouraging them to use them in their writing so some extra practice at home would be really beneficial.

Here is our maths teaching sequence for the year. We make sure to cover the key skills of counting thoroughly before we move on to applying them.
