Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Important information for terms 1 and 2: 

PE will be on a Tuesday. Please ensure children come to school correct PE kit and bring

a water bottle with them. 

Year 4 will be swimming for the first 2 terms. Nightingale will be swimming in term 1 and Kingfisher will be swimming in term 2. 

Please make sure your child has their swimming kit on a Tuesday if it is their term for swimming. 

 

Homework:

Homework will be sent home on a Monday and is due back the following Monday. 

It is really important to listen to your child reading daily. We expect children to read at least 3 times per week. 

Your child should also be practising on TTRS. Children should aim for 21 minutes of prqactise per week which is equal to 3 minutes per day.

TTRS (Times Table Rockstars)

Pupils can enhance their multiplication tables knowledge through accessing TTRS.  We recommend a minimum of 10 minutes everyday for children to complete their heatmaps of fluency and speed.  These are vital to all our mathematical learning across the curriculum.

 

Pupils with rise up the rankings with their speed and there are in-house competitions set every week to earn house points, class and individual prizes.  The best part is it's fun too!

Reading

It is important that your child reads a minimum of three times per week for a minimum of 10 minutes per read.  Please record this in your child's reading record to earn house points and rewards.
