We are a 'GOOD' school - Ofsted Inspection Report March 2023
Well done to all the families that attended the Change 4 Life Club. The club is designed to promote healthy living and how to achieve and maintain this. The feedback has been really positive from children and parents alike and there will be a Ready Steady Go club delivered by Paul Ashwell from NHS running after Easter, anyone interested please contact the office. Once again, well done to everyone involved!
Well done to all the children for taking part in the sponsored obstacle course for Sport Relief. The children had to run the course as fast as they could as well as demonstrate good throwing and jumping skills to make their way around. The behaviour and attitude of the children was very good and everyone enjoyed having a go, including Mr Hood! Please could all sponsor money be handed into reception. Once again, well done for all the hard work to raise money for this great cause. See the gallery pages for photographs.
In the build up to the 2016 Olympics, all the primary schools in Thanet are taking part in #batontour2016. This involves a baton relay whereby each primary school has the baton for a couple of weeks. The baton represents the values of the Sainsburys School Games; Honesty, Determination, Self Belief, Teamwork and Respect. Each school can choose how to use the baton to promote these values.
Year 5’s used the baton during circle time and passed it round to discuss the key words. The pupils explained to the rest of the class how they have demonstrated the values of determination, honesty, Passion, respect, self-belief and team work. The pupils used examples from P.E lessons, sports day and life experiences to share their own stories. Overall, it was a very positive learning experience for the pupils as they reflected on their achievements and the importance of developing their life skills for the future.
On Wednesday 10th February the pupils of Holy Trinity & St John’s Primary School, Margate were inspired by a visit from former GB Olympic swimmer Chris Cook.
The visit was part of the INSPIRE project in the lead up to the 2016 Rio Olympics games and aims to use sport as a means to improve the outcomes for children and young people.
Chris Cook delivered workshops throughout the day to pupils which focused around the idea of pushing yourself out the comfort zone and stretching yourself to be the very best.
The pupils were clearly enthused by his work and were keen to ask many questions about his personal achievements in swimming and any tips they could learn!
All in all it was a fantastic experience for the school and a great learning experience for the pupils.
Holy Trinity & St John's CEP School have vacancies for two parent governors.
This is a voluntary position and the governing body, with the headteacher has overall responsibility for the running of the school. The three core strategic functions:
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
No special qualifications are needed, just a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the governing body's work. You will be required to attend meetings and visit the school in the capacity of governor.
If you are interested or would like further information, please call at the school office.
Eclipse Class took part in a very exciting event at the Turner Centre in Margate today. The children were very especially invited to meet the Duchess of Cambridge! She spent time talking to the children and asking them questions about the art project they were doing. All the children thought she was a very lovely lady, who was very interested in what they were doing.
