On Wednesday 8th February, a group of year five and six pupils were invited to a Sports Science event at Canterbury Christchurch University.
This was part of the pupils Science Week at school and was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the role of science in sport. The children participated in a series of fitness tests which measured different components of fitness including strength, flexibility and accuracy. The children were also given a tour of the Sports Laboratory . They learned about the Altitude Room and the Bod Pod. The children had and inspirational day and the feedback from the university staff was that all the children were enthusiastic and were a credit to the school. Well done to everyone.

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES
Holy Trinity and St John's celebrated the European Day of Languages in style.
It was a busy day with children and adults involved in wonderful activities.
During the morning, the children studied their chosen country, learned some greetings in the language and watched videos to see what their country looked like.
In the afternoon, each year group was visited by a parent from their chosen country who delighted everyone with their wonderful traditional cooking.
The smells drifted along the corridors of the school to delight all who walked around. Everyone experienced foreign food at first hand, prepared with love and dedication by our lovely mums from Poland, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, The Philippines, Latvia and Bangladesh.
It was a remarkable event for all involved and our children from these countries beamed with pride as all their classmates celebrated their country.
All the staff and mums have worked hard to make this a special day for all to learn to understand and appreciate each other a bit more, wherever we are from.

Good luck!!

Year 6 children who have been taking part in the INSPIRE project celebrated their work on Tuesday in a carnival parade at Chatham House. Building on the excitement and legacy of London 2012, INSPIRED Ways to Rio is a project to encourage children and young people to increase their participation in physical activity and sport, the arts, and personal development.
The children selected a theme to base the art around, which was Brazilian samba soccer! They completed their art work with the help of a workshop run by Animate Arts Company and then worked hard on the choreography ahead of the carnival day.
All the children that took part behaved impeccably and did the school proud - well done!

We all know how important it is to name everything that your child brings into school - uniform, shoes,PE kit, plimsolls, lunch boxes etc. This helps your child to identify their possessions and enables the school to return any lost items to the correct owner.
How about ordering some colourful name labels/stickers tags for clothing and equipment from the company My Nametags?
Every order they receive from parents helps raise funds for the school.
All you need to do is go on line at www.MyNametags.com
